Visiting Seoul soon?
Then you’ve got to take advantage of Korea’s high-tech skin analysis.
Here’s where to go get a skin analysis in Seoul!
Quick Summary
- Whether you want a quick scan to find the right moisturizer, a boutique brand’s tailored recommendation, or a dermatologist’s clinical assessment before a treatment, Seoul is a skincare playground.
1. Olive Young: Free, Fast, and Everywhere
Do you want to start with a zero-commitment option (while getting some shopping done)?
Many Olive Young stores now host self-service skin analyzing devices that measure hydration, sebum, sensitivity, wrinkles, and more.
The best part is, they’re free!
In-store skin scanners are easy to use and hygienic. You can simply wipe the scanner with the alcohol swab provided before scanning your face.
CJ Olive Young announced a nationwide rollout of these machines (expanding to dozens of stores), pairing the scan with product recommendations.
According to the service center I spoke to recently, the Olive Young branches with Skin Scan in Seoul are at Yongsan I’Park Mall, Lotte World Mall Plus, Yeongdeungpo Times Square, Parnas Samsung Town, Gangnam Woosung, and Lotte Mall Eunpyeong.
It’s a great first stop if you just want objective numbers and a QR code with suggested products.
2. Cosmetic Flagship Stores and Brand Experience Spaces (Seongsu, Gangnam)
If you want a product-focused consultation, not a medical diagnosis, go to a brand flagship.
Big groups like Amorepacific run experience spaces and flagship stores (Seongsu is a popular neighborhood for these) where trained staff offer makeup and skin consultations, demo products, and sometimes deeper skin scans or pop-up diagnostics.
These stores are ideal if you want to test products hands-on and walk out with a tailored routine from that brand.
Tip: If you’re heading to Seongsu, be prepared for crowds. My cousin said she even had to wait in line for photo booths and claw machines!
3. Dermatology Clinics: Clinical Tests and Treatment Plans
This one is my go-to method.
For anything medical, like acne, pigmentation, lifting, or laser treatments, see a dermatologist.
Korea is honestly THE perfect place for skin care.
Whenever I travel for too long, I end up with sunspots or pimples. And the moment I get back, I head straight to see a dermatologist (sometimes even before seeing my family or friends!).
Laser treatments for sunspots or age spots are both affordable and effective here. I also tried Potenza recently to reduce acne scars, and I’m pretty happy with the results!
When you book an appointment, most reputable dermatology clinics include a basic skin assessment (using digital imaging devices) for free before recommending any procedures.
If you’re planning lasers, injectables, or medical peels, a clinic’s diagnostic assessment is the right place to get a safe, personalized plan.
Many clinics also advertise English-friendly services for visitors, especially in Seoul!
4. Boutique Beauty Clinics and Pop-Ups: A Middle Ground
Seoul’s beauty scene has a middle tier, like aesthetic salons, skin-tech boutiques, and short-term pop-ups that offer objective analysis using multi-light devices, 3D scanners, or imaging.
These places often charge a small fee (or run free events) and give a readable report useful for choosing over-the-counter products or aesthetic treatments.
They’re good if you want more tech than a drugstore scan, but less cost than a medical treatment.
Quick Checklist: How to Pick the Right Option
- Want product advice only? Start at Olive Young or a brand flagship. They’re free and fast. You can do it yourself, too (perfect for introverts)!
- Considering treatments (lasers, injectables)? Book a dermatology consult first. Clinics do formal diagnosis and treatment mapping.
- Want somewhere in between? Try boutique clinics or pop-ups with 3 or 4 light imaging devices.
- Need help in English? Look for clinics and chain boutiques that list English support (many do, especially in Gangnam, Cheongdam, and Myeongdong).
Final Tips (So Your Skin Analysis Actually Helps)
You can bring a list of products you use, a recent photo in natural light, and be makeup-free if possible.
Treat scans as one data point. Combine the numbers with a professional’s eye (brand staff for cosmetics, medical staff for treatment).
And remember that a free Olive Young scan is a fantastic starting map, but a clinic gives you the route map if you plan to go further.
The first step to flawless skin is understanding your skin type, its strengths, weaknesses, and what it really needs.
I hope you make the most of your trip to Seoul and treat your skin while you’re here!
